The relationship between Gayle King and Oprah , for years, has been a topic of many tabloid papers.  Poor Steadman even takes a back seat to the rumors.

Now Rosie O’Donnell may have hit a sore spot last week when she said that the relationship between Oprah and  Gayle King looked like more than just friendship to her.

Gayle King responded to the accusations by saying (via ShowbizSpy), “The thing [is], if we were gay, we would tell you. We would so tell you. We wouldn’t try to keep that a secret because there’s nothing wrong with being gay. So if we were, we would tell you. The truth of the matter is we’re not. It’s hard enough for me to get a date on a Saturday night as it is.”

Gayle continued, “This isn’t a rumor I’m trying to continue to explore, but no there’s nothing, there’s nothing wrong with it. I love that question. That never bothers me because it’s so silly.”

Now the question shouldn’t be are they or are they not gay.  The question should be do we really care?  If they are gay, shame on them for not being honest and trying to use their popularity to help all gay human beings in their fight for total equality.  Oh wait… didn’t Ellen just fail in doing that on Prop 8?  Daytime Emmy Awards Show

Didn’t she sit back and take a passive approach, and a donation to Prop 8 to ease the newspaper frenzy? She is out and proud.  She even announced on her show, in a very exaggerated way, that she was getting married.  One would have thought, that she would have fought tooth and nail to keep that right.  I would have.

If Gayle and Oprah are not gay, then they are sadly so focused on their careers and themselves, that they have missed out on the best things in life.  Including true love, a family, and the love of a child.

Truth of the matter is, there is no great white hope coming out f the closet to our defense.  There is no one with extreme power raising up and screaming from the roof tops, ” I am gay!  You like me!  You see me as a real person!  Now please help me to be a whole person!  Help me to be equal in every way!”

So why does it matter if they are gay or not?
