Twitter Pulls the Plug Late Night on #noh8

Late night Twitterers just had the rug pulled out from under them when Twitter pulled the active link for #noh8.  What is #noh8?  It was a thread that was quickly making its way up the ranks to being the top Twittered topic.  #noh8 linked you to an admitted homophobe.  The website states “As I’ve said before, I will freely admit I’m homophobic.”,  yet the writer takes a firm stand on same sex marriage, and it being allowed.

Why did it make so many waves on Twitter last night?  It seems everyone IN favor of Prop 8 were trying to get it to the top Twittered spot. (They made it as far as number 2 by the way before Twitter pulled it.)

The question should be… why did Twitter pull it?  It clearly gets pulled and reposted under a new tiny url by another user….
