The World Outgames 2009
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009The World Outgames is an event, held every 4 years, that aims to address all aspects of the LGBT community all over the world. Montreal, Canada, hosted The World Outgames the first time in 2006. More than 18,000 participants from 111 countries attended.
Copenhagen, Denmark, is the hosting city this year. The Games run from July 25 to August 2, and the program includes 34 sports tournaments, many official parties, several LGBT art shows and exhibitions, an international choir festival, a tango festival, a film festival, a leather festival and a number of special performances featuring cabaret, theater and opera, and the Love of Freedom – Freedom to Love Human Rights Conference.
OutCities is also participating, a cultural feast, with an international collaboration with LGBT artists from different parts of the globe: Antwerp, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro and others will fill the streets of Copenhagen with music, events and performances on gender, identity and diversity.
