Local News coming out of Charlotte North Carolina.  News 14 Carolina has reported that christian groups have protested the Charlotte Pride Festival.    As vendors lined the area to get the list of performers ready, the “God Has a Better Way Rally” began.   As with many Pride Festivals, protesters were nearby – close enough to ensure that they can be heard over the fun of the day, close enough to think their prayers for us will be heard, and we will be saved.

What they don’t seem to understand is no one is listening! Their prayers are not going to interrupt the festival, they are not going to save anyone’s soul by standing on a street corner yelling and praying.  Truth be told, most people (except for the people that are brand new to coming out) are not even paying attention to them, and the new people coming out get upset… but come back stronger the next year!

Monica Simpson decided to do something different.  In the midst of all those activists, she stood alone in a sea of red shirts.  She is quoted saying “It allowed her to see how much work still needed to be done on this earth as we really talk about the dream god has for us to live as one and realize we are all connected as one.”  Good for her!  That took strength, and I applaud her.

I do give some credit to the protesters. Everyone that attended signed a pledge to hold peaceful protests, and those pledges were upheld.
