Homophobia On Big Brother 11

I am a reality show addict.  I live, watch and breath reality shows.   Most other shows on television, I can guess the outcome which makes it dull for me and the people in my house.  I  mean how many shows just follow the same scripts.  At least with reality we get the unexpected.

Big Brother happens to be one of my favorites.   I love the twists and turns, the back stabbing, lies, deceptions, and games.  It is the baddest of the bad.  Big Brother hand picks people of different backgrounds and forces them to live in a house, locked together with no outside contact at all.  It just smells of disaster.

Last night Big Brother aired a vicious argument between two players, Jeff the quiet yet funny athlete and Russell the loud mouth iron pumper.  The bleeps and blurred lips gave the impression that a lot of swearing was going on.  Now for what we didn’t see…

BIG BROTHER 11
Jeff

Jeff the funny, easy going, athlete that we all loved… went verbal gay bashing.  The advocate.com writes that Jeff yelled toward Russell, “Way to show your true colors, fag.”  He later goes on and erupts, yelling, “F*ck you, you f*cking homo faggot,” and later, “You f*cking jealous fags.”

Now to Big Brothers credit they did keep this off the air, but there are Big Brother After Dark Videos on Youtube.com, where he goes on and on.  At one point Jeff exclaims that he thinks Russell should just go “jerk off” Jessie, and again calls them fags.  I am amazed that this was allowed to be aired, and taped.  If you Google Big Brother and Homophobia,  you will see that others have been outraged and have accused the networks of being more tolerant to gay slurs than racial slurs.  Isn’t it time to stop.  Shouldn’t a slur be a slur?
